Uplands Kindergarten is the Christian sessional kindergarten on Remuera Road in Remuera. It has been part of the local community for more than 50 years. It is not an Auckland Kindergarten Association free kindergarten and not a full-day commercial chain.
Uplands Kindergarten takes children from about two to five or six years and is licensed for around 33 children. The programme is described as play-based with STEAM exploration and community connections. Christian values are woven through the day. Half-day and full-day patterns are both mentioned, with flexible drop-off and pick-up. Unlike most AKA kindergartens, it states it stays open in school holidays, which matters for working families.
Qualified teachers are the published staffing standard. Parent reviews often focus on long-term trust across siblings rather than a single glossy feature. Ask how long key teachers have been on staff if stability is your priority.
Hours are commonly listed around 8.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays. Confirm the exact times through the contact buttons on this listing. Enquire about vacancies and settling visits. Places are limited by the small licence. Ask how 20 Hours ECE is applied to half-day versus full-day patterns.
Families who want a Christian kindergarten with holiday cover in Remuera. If you want a secular free AKA session, compare Remuera Kindergarten. If you need infant care from 7.30am, compare BestStart or Kindercare. It is the long-running Christian option on Remuera Road.
Ask about fees, holiday weeks, faith in the daily programme and how transitions to school are handled. Confirm parking on Remuera Road at peak drop-off. Write the answers down so you can compare with Poppies and the Baptist kindergarten. Ask any question that would change your decision before you pay a deposit, including holiday weeks, ratio on a busy morning, and how relievers are used.
