Rebel Sport – Riccarton

Rebel Sport, at Westfield Riccarton, is one of the mall’s own confirmed anchor tenants, giving local families access to New Zealand’s leading sporting goods retailer for footwear, clothing and equipment across a wide range of sports.

What Rebel Sport offers Riccarton families

The store stocks the latest release, quality, branded sporting goods at competitive prices, covering everything from everyday activewear through to equipment for specific sports like hockey and running. Reviews of the store are mixed, with several customers praising staff for strong product knowledge and helpful advice, including specific mention of a wide children’s shoe range extending up to larger sizes not always stocked elsewhere, while others describe inconsistent customer service on busier days.

Given its status as one of Westfield Riccarton’s seven confirmed anchor tenants, Rebel Sport represents a significant part of the mall’s own retail offering, and families outfitting children for a new sport or season are likely to find a reasonable range of options without needing to visit a separate specialist store.

Visiting Rebel Sport

Families with a specific product in mind, such as a particular hockey stick or shoe size, are encouraged to call ahead to confirm current stock, given some reviewers report inconsistent availability of specialist items.

Families comparing Rebel Sport against a smaller specialist sports store may find the wider range at Rebel Sport more convenient for outfitting several children across different sports at once, even where a specialist shop might offer deeper expertise in a single code.

Given the store’s own central mall location, a shopping trip for sports gear can easily be combined with other errands at Westfield Riccarton on the same visit.

For families new to a specific sport, staff can generally offer basic guidance on appropriate gear and sizing for a first-time purchase, though those with more advanced or specific needs may want to research options in advance.

Given the mixed nature of customer feedback, families are encouraged to form their own view on a first visit rather than relying entirely on other shoppers’ experiences.
